Starlight Drive-In is one of the most versatile and expansive settlement locations available to players in Fallout 4. Located south of Concord, this post-apocalyptic movie theater offers a massive flat asphalt lot that serves as an ideal canvas for custom bases. Securing and developing this location provides players with an excellent central hub for trade routes and resource management early in the game.
How to Locate and Clear Starlight Drive-In
Finding Starlight Drive-In is relatively simple, as it lies directly south of Concord and east of Abernathy Farm. Upon arrival, players will encounter a group of mole rats scattered around the property along with several booby traps. Care should be taken near the main screen tower, where landmines and tripwires are set to detonate.
To gain access to the workshop workbench, you must eliminate all hostile creatures in the immediate area. After clearing the enemies, approach the red workshop station located in the small central diner building to claim ownership. Once unlocked, you can freely modify the environment using the settlement building mode.
Removing Radiation Hazards and Scrapping Resources
The most immediate concern at Starlight Drive-In is the irradiated water crater sitting in the center of the parking lot. Standing near this pool delivers high levels of radiation due to several submerged radioactive barrels. Entering workshop mode allows you to scrap these barrels directly, which completely removes the radiation source from the area.
After neutralizing the radiation threat, you can scrap the surrounding cars, fallen trees, and debris to yield large amounts of essential building materials. The scrapped automobiles provide a massive supply of steel and gears necessary for construction. Cleaning up the central area opens up a safe zone for setting up water purifiers and food crops.
Planning and Building Your Settlement
The vast flat space of the drive-in lot offers incredible freedom when constructing multi-story buildings, trading hubs, or defensive towers. Using the large projector screen as a natural wall or vantage point allows players to create heavily fortified defensive structures. You can also utilize the wing-like diner roof as a pre-built platform for housing or power generators.
Setting up industrial water purifiers in the central pond generates a steady surplus of purified water for trading. Positioning defensive turrets along the outer perimeter ensures incoming raiders or super mutants are dealt with before reaching your settlers. Proper lighting and power grids will transform this abandoned theater into a bustling wasteland city.
